South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) Bursary

SAIRR bursaries are awarded according to academic merit, financial need, the requirements of the various donors and the availability of funds. Due to a large number of requests we receive, application forms will be sent by e-mail to candidates who meet the requirements.

SAIRR Bursary Information

Selections are made by independent committees, brought together to make the choice.

Bursary funds are paid out directly to tertiary institutions and service providers – monies are paid directly to students only under exceptional circumstances.

Who Must Apply for SAIRR Bursary?

Only citizens of the Republic of South Africa.

Only students who intend to study or who are already studying for a degree or diploma at a tertiary institution in South Africa which is registered with the Council for Higher Education.

Only applicants who are intending to study, or are already studying for a first degree;

Preference will be given to science, engineering, commerce, information technology, agriculture, and technical training students;

Students who intend studying for a post-graduate degree – e.g. Honours – are not eligible.
